On April 4th, Festival Marina and Dubai Festival City played host to the inaugural Dragon Boat Festival, a day full of colourful teams and activities on and off the water. 50 teams of 20 went through some loud and boisterous heats over a 150m race course to whittle down the teams. Approximately 20% of the participants were professionals, with one team even looking to participate in the World Championship in China this year. The final 500m race pitted four teams against each other, with the Dubai Diggers taking out a spectacular photo-finish in front of large spectator crowd gathered in front of the Intercontinental Hotel. Festival Marina's crew ensured that all teams got away from the docks safely and smoothly, providing all on-water race management and safety boat assistance.
