Activities
Dubai Festival Cityoffers a wealth of leisure and entertainment activities to suit every need. The prestigious Four Seasons Golf Club features the championship 18-hole Al Badia golf course and an array of eclectic dining options. The club’s world class golf academy offers a variety of individual packages and lessons for beginners and enthusiasts.
Designed by master golf course designer Robert Trent Jones II, the 7,250 yard, 85 acre, par 72 course is the first golf course to make use of salt tolerant and environmentally friendly Paspalum grass, which requires one third less water to irrigate than the traditional Bermuda grass. Holes 5 and 18 of Al Badia Golf Course are amongst the most challenging in the world. This is primarily due to a ‘Rivers of Sand’ concept which runs throughout the course, presenting a challenge which intensifies the excitement of the game.
Adding to the entertainment portfolio at Dubai Festival City will be a 75,000 square foot cinema complex with seating for over 2,300 people. Located on Festival Waterfront Centre’s Skywalk level, the 12 screen Grand Cinemas complex will have access to a wide variety of café’s and restaurants, in addition to various other entertainment options like Skywalk Food Express area at the heart of the entertainment level on the third floor, it offers a vast selection of family and fast food outlets.
Also, while moored at Festival Marina, you may plan to spend two nights at the Al Maha Desert Resort, a collection of luxurious Bedouin “tents” nestled among sand dunes and wandering herds of Arabian Oryx. The resort will arrange a camel-and-champagne ride at sunset, or “dune surfing” on modified snowboards. And for a glimpse of Dubai’s fishing-village roots, wander the Jaddaf district and watch local craftsman hand-carving traditional boats. Take a day jaunt to Sharjah, the cultural capital of the United Arab Emirates, where numerous museums cover everything from contemporary art to ancient Middle East coins and weaponry; the Sharjah Heritage Area includes a restored ancient souk and a fort once occupied by a Sheikh. Possibilities are endless for a memorable stay in Dubai.
